CLASS NEWS FOR FEBRUARY 20-24

RELIGION- Today, we discussed the season of Lent and we will attend Mass on Ash Wednesday. On Thursday, students will practice for Reconciliation and attend Stations of the Cross at 2:00. Please continue to practice the Form of Confession with your child.

MATH- Students will show $1.00 in a variety of ways and count on from amount tendered to determine change. The test over Chapter 12 is on Thursday. Homework for the week is pw 79 and 80, p273 and math facts multiplying by 2.

SPELLING- Unit 23 words contain the sounds of “ow” and “ou”. The Challenge Words for the week are trouble, understand, afraid, chew, danger, and lessons.

HANDWRITING- Students will practice the letters “P”, “R”, and “B”.

READING- We will read a Time for Kids article Sharks. On Friday, students will work at stations reviewing vocabulary, compound words, and the sounds of r-controlled vowels.

PHONICS- We will begin Unit 6 with contractions.

SOCIAL STUDIES- Students will present their President reports to the class.

SCIENCE- Students will listen to the story Bartholomew and the Oobleck

and make “goo”.

HEALTH- We will discuss the importance of eating a variety of foods and students will create a balanced meal.

LANGUAGE ARTS- Students will learn to use helping verbs correctly in sentences and complete Simple Solutions Grammar lessons #61-65.

*First Reconciliation is on Saturday, March 3 at 10:00. Please return your donut order by Friday.
